Another Collapse

The centre of Altea was plunged into darkness for a while last night after the building housing Altea Luz store collapsed into the street, taking with it an electrical post whose wires snapped under the collapse. Miguel Angel Palmer, who owns and runs Altea Luz stated that he was ‘born again’ after escaping injury following the collapse, whose effects also damaged cars parked on the N-332 main road nearby.
As a result, the road was closed until after midnight. It would appear that the hundred-year-old building collapsed as work was being undertaken on the next-door area. Mr. Palmer managed to save himself as he ‘heard a strange sound and saw water dripping into the shop’, and ran out into the main street to see what was happening.
