Agression Resolved

Altea Police yesterday detained a 34 year-old Ecuadorian man, and accused him of kidnapping and attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl he had kidnapped earlier in the day from La Nucia by offering her what he claimed was a hallucinogenic drink.

Once she was in his car, the man took her to where the Algar and Guadalest rivers meet in Altea where he attempted to rape her, but the cries of the girl alerted the neighbours, who in turn phoned the emergency services, by which time the man had fled. The girl was at first taken to the Altea Clinic and then to Villajoyosa Hospital, where she was given a thorough examination.
