A technical failure in the computer system of the cash dispensing machines of the Bancaja bank yesterday morning left over a million people stranded. The bank was quick to assure its clients that the problems only affected the machines and that all other services were running as usual. Every single one of the 1, 250 automatic cash dispensers was affected, and in some cases, clients had their cards ‘swallowed’ by the dispensing machines. The problem was not rectified until the early afternoon, which resulted in many cardholders expressing indignation that they had to pay extra commission to use their card in the cash dispensing machine of another bank.
