Discover the secrets of the quarter moon and of Jupiter in opposition during the Astronomía en el Museo 2000 series, at the City of the Arts and Sciences. The year-long series of conferences, workshops, and astronomical viewings for the young and not so young alike complement the activities of L’Hemisfèric on the subject of the universe.
A novelty this year is the scheduled activities day for children, on 17 June, as part of the regularly programmed activities for young people. There will be two talks given and a viewing, with children and adults jointly participating. The viewing, on 11 May, will be of Jupiter in opposition, and on 30 October, of the quarter moon.
In May and at the end of October two interesting talks and discussion periods are scheduled: In the former event, on 11 May, Francisco Izquierdo, the coordinator of the Sección de Selenografia del AVA, will talk about Jupiter in opposition; in the latter programmed activity, on 30 October, Rafael García, Coordinador de la Sección de Planetaria del AVA, will discuss the quarter moon phenomenon. Both astronomical events can be observed by telescope from the north side of Museum.
In addition to a workshop for children, the programme cycle includes workshops on setting up telescopes, on 28 September, and on building night time clocks, sundials and spectroscopes, on 6 April, 15 July and 9 November respectively.
