Lux Mundi Xativa 2007
Five monumental buildings of the historical-artistic complex of Xàtiva have been adapted for this exhibition, which was opened by the President of the Generalitat Francisco Camps: the Collegiate church, the Gothic church of the old convent of Santo Domingo, the shrine of San Félix - situated on top of the old Visigoth cathedral, the chapel of the old Royal Hospital and the Casa de la Enseñanza (House of Learning), where the didactic workshops take place.

"Lux Mundi", which will be on exhibit from April until the end of 2007, displaying more than 300 works of art, revives the rich historical and artistic legacy of Xàtiva and coincides with the 300th anniversary of the burning of the city by the army of Felipe V (Philip V), after the Battle of Almansa in the War of the Spanish Succession. The central image of the exhibition is the gigantic canvas "La Santa Cena" (The Holy Supper), a work by Vicente López dating back to the year 1806 and that comes from the old refectory of the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara in Xàtiva. The Borgia, the leading figures of which were the popes Calixto III and Alejandro VI from Xàtiva, also find room in this exhibition under the epigraph "El Mundo y la Proyección Universal de los Borja" (The World and the Universal Projection of the Borgia). And for the first time one can get to know about the Borgia Popes' stays in the Vatican, through a photographic representation, as well as being able to contemplate two pieces of tiling from the aforementioned apartments |
