Rice Week at Arts and Sciences

Rice Week at Arts and Sciences

The Arts and Sciences is hosting a Rice Week from 15-21 October 2007.

The exhibit, which includes sections on Sustainable rice, Rice Factories in Valencia, The World of Rice, and Rice Processing, will take place from 15-21 October 2007.

The exhibition will include workshops and courses on rice-based foods and beverages, new culinary trends, and even a Japanese party.

Valencia is home to a wide culinary tradition that has greatly enriched world gastronomy: from our worldwide famous paella to all sorts of sea-based rice dishes, such as the a banda, senyoret and lobster rice. These are just but a few of the many different types of rice dishes you can find in the region... and that is only if we speak of the so-called "dry rice" or rice served in paella.

Because of its history in the customs and traditions of Valencia, rice has become an intrinsic part of Spanish culture.
