Leonardo’s Machines

The Museo de las Ciencias Príncipe Felipe de Valencia is hosting the exhibit entitled Las Máquinas de Leonardo (Leonardo’s Machines) till February 24th. The exhibit includes 12 machine sculptures and reproductions of drawings that were done over 400 years ago by Leonardo da Vinci, architect, artist and thinker. You will be amazed at these original machines and devices, way ahead of their time, that were invented by the ingenious creator Leonardo da Vinci.

Located on the first floor of the museum, the exhibit is divided into four parts: with only one support point, round levers, rolling up the plans and water and air. Each panel shows the way in which the delta wing, the helicopter, the diving suit, and the pulley guided crane works.

Leonardo da Vinci at the Science Museum in Valencia

Kids have fun at the science museum in Valencia Spain

Leonardo da Vinci, architect, artist and thinker, was born in Italy in 1452. He lived at a time of progress in science, art and inventions. Leonardo made drawings of his ideas for transport, such as the parachute, the armoured vehicle, and even snowshoes and shoes that floated on water. Leonardo’s drawings of machine tools and weaponry still seem modern. However, many of his ideas were beyond the technical know-how and technology available at the time.

This current exhibit enlarges the contents of the Museo de las Ciencias, which last November inaugurated 100 años de 100cia, a review of the most significant scientific and technologic advances in the last few years, and an overview of Albert Einstein and his contribution to science.
